Him And Her

- Edward Hamilton

The next time she opened her eyes she was back at home. She would wake in the early hours of the morning feeling his presence. She feels him beat inside of her. She glances at his side of the bed and misses the sight of him. Her mind would reminisce times they had together and she would sigh after every mental episode. She craves his attention and love, and can not imagine how she can go on without him. She walks through the silent house feeling his energy in every room as she burst into tears. She screams out his name as she is haunted by memories of that rainy night. She would walk towards the mirror at the end of the hall and would breakdown at the site of the dried up sunflower that lay on the table. It was the same sunflower she had picked up from the site.

The house seemed awfully quiet and empty. She felt lonely. She would stumble to the kitchen, with the sunflower in hand and she looked at the calendar on the wall and stared at the date encircled with the red marker. She remembered she had circled it at the beginning of the year, yet she had repressed it soon after. Today was the anniversary of when they were involved in the accident where her soul mate tragically lost his life. She would find her way to the site and would drive aimlessly re-living the exact same nightmare over and over again. She endures the pain and insists on taking responsibility for the accident and the death of her beloved. She would feel his presence as she stood by the now decaying tree on the side of the road. She would bring a sunflower and lay it at the bottom of the tree every year on that day there after.

She feels his energy and love flow through the blood in her veins every day.
