Chandralekha (pg. 4 of 9)

- Purushottam Agarwal

Her azure eyes met with his and on a compelling impulse got locked there, she was totally captivated. Even her best and earnest efforts could not break the spell. After some time she even stopped making any such effort; more engaged she was with his eyes, more entranced she became.

Then she finally broke away and lowered her dazed eyes to the ground.  On some impulse she came out in the open without even realizing what she was doing. She stood before him in her wet cloth.

After a while she was felt ashamed of herself but remained riveted to the ground. She raised her eyes and regarded him for a fraction of a moment.

Not knowing precisely what to do she ran into the forest for cover and stealthily glanced through the foliage. Her chest was heaving rapidly with her heart pulsating fast as if she had run a long distance. She was looking like a scared deer, a helpless delicate creature with eyes wide with apprehension.

To Sadanand 's great relief she had not run away from the scene. The fact however was that she was unable to run away due to wetness of her dress . When she looked at him stealthily, and found him beaming brightly to her. She rewarded him with a friendly smile. She had now discarded all her inhibitions and felt at ease.

A soft fire had kindled in her veins and a naïve desire invaded her palpitating heart. She now did not feel necessary to have a pseudo sense of security.

Seeing this transformation in her he walked towards her and took her in his arms and kissed her longingly. She did not resist but slowly eased out from his hold breathing heavily. She was shivering all over by this maiden flow of ecstasy in her body. Unable to keep standing, she took support of he boulder and covered her face with both of her hands.

After restoring herself, she glanced him for a brief moment. Sadanand getting no-objection to his initial advance spoke,

"I am entirely captivated by you, infatuated by your enticing beauty... and would request you to become my life partner...”

When he saw some confusion in her eyes, he immediately added,  "I do not mean to look like a philanderer. Please do not misunderstand me. I am ready to marry you this very instant with all the rituals prescribed by any religion of your choosing and for that purpose we may go to any temple which you choose."
