Summary

The manager should know that he is often, rather unawares, required to take a decision.  Therefore to avoid any mishap he should keep continual track of things happening around him and take timely cognizance of them before they acquire criticality. Every ambiguous situation should be minutely examined, analyzed and consigned into mind for future use when need arises. The psychic powers residing inside of the body shall be automatically awakened to help in any crisis. There are three most potent psychic powers or instincts, namely Intuition, Perception and Conceptualization, which are always in attendance of an individual. These are subconscious or pre-logical in nature. The combination of these three powers is provability known termed as  the “Sixth Sense”.

Those who take decisions, or rather pushed to take a decision, on the basis of intuition or 6th sense mainly rely on past experience and close acquaintance with similar situations. Actually such a decision taker has a considerable personal history of productive reliance on his intuition and finds this way of making decision quick, reliable and handy but also satisfying. The decision-taker drives an inner satisfaction in utilizing his exquisite skills and sensitivities. To be a successful intuitive person is to trust ‘advance information’ sent by ‘sub-conscious’ mind.  This trust confirms the propriety of action chosen. It needs cultivation of sensitivity and reliance on intuitive effectiveness.  It is atomization of the personal style in a way, might be supported by extra-sensory powers. Effective intuitive behavior, more often than not, is the result of rich experience and practice. The personality free form psychological adversities, like excessive emotional involvement, self-blame, anxiety, worry etc are found to be better decision takers by intuition. However there may be some scholars who might be having different views on the subject.

Perception is the process by which the details from external sources to feed the sensory system are gathered. Very closely related to perception is cognition. It is the process of contemplation, recognizing, reasoning and conceptualizing all the inputs received through cognition. And then to elaborate, combine and explore them to meet the decision-making situation.  Perception is actually the ability to take realistic cognizance with due clarity and objectivity of the position, facts and happenings in and around the work place and amongst the work force.  It is the factual receptiveness of the signals and messages by the psycho-receiving set of the self.  Actually it is not only to receive these signals but also to absorb them into psycho system.  In this method maturation of a decision largely depends upon the conceptualization of the situation in totality.  Psyche constantly works unconsciously towards the decision-making on the basis of information and signals fed.  Until and unless the manager has a clear concept of all the affairs related to a decision-making-situation, he will be handicapped and may come out with a wrong decision. It is the capacity to think and remember, to be solicitous and disciplined, to be discovering and recognizing, to be inventing and selective about ones thought pattern. It is this quality which goes all the way to develop clear and rational concept. One will have to plunge deep into decision-situation, and fully utilize the conceptualizing capacities to come out as a winner.  A concept is a model, an image, or a set of relations, which are used to symbolize a situation.  Concepts are not direct sensory data only but are schemes for sorting, filtering, relating, elaboration and combining relevant data to make sensible information out of it.
